Designing of a spur gear in Catia V5

On Catia V5 home screen click Start>Mechanical design>Part.

Select any plane and invoke sketch on it.

Draw two concentric circles of diameter 150mm and 180mm respectively.

Draw a horizontal axis (Insert>Profile>axis) passing through the center.

Draw another 4 axis passing through the center and making angle of 1.875, 3.75, 7.5 and 9.375 deg. respectively with the horizontal axis.

Draw two lines as shown in fig below to complete the tooth profile.

Use the quick trim tool to cut out the remaining part of the outer circle (go to Insert>Operations>Relimitations>Quick trim).

This is the desired tooth profile.
Now use the rotate feature from the operation tool bar (or go to Insert>operation>Transformation>Rotate) to make the remaining teeth.

To use the rotate feature, first select the desired profile, in this case tooth profile, and then select the rotate feature. to rotate the profile select the center for rotation. check the duplicate and set the number of instances and value of angle between the two profiles. and then click OK.

Use again  quick trim tool to cut the lower part of the teeth as shown below.

Now exit sketch and use pad feature to covert the sketch into 3D part.
